All,
As you may have noticed, there have been some changes with the upcoming International Meet from what we first promised you. These changes are for the better… you’ll see.

When we started the planning process, it was our intention to be joining with the American Truck Historical Society (ATHS) at their major National Meet. They are expecting over 1000 trucks. In addition, we’d be partnered with the Society for the Preservation and Appreciation of Antique Motorized Fire Apparatus in America (SPAAMFAA, the fire truck club) and the Divco Club of America, for their national meets. This would have been a huge show. We received assurances from ATHS, the lead club, about minimal costs for our participation, and for ample hotel space and show-field space to accommodate our needs.

Unfortunately, ATHS kept adding “minimal” and “nominal” costs, to the point where it would be prohibitively expensive for a family with a car to participate. The registration process was also becoming more complicated. Additionally, ATHS pre-booked blocks at every hotel in the area, and their assurance of hotel space did not allocate enough rooms to accommodate our needs, so we would have been in three different hotels. As such, the 2024 Meet committee has elected to sever our relationship with the ATHS meet and hold our own meet. SPAAMFAA and the Divco club have made the same decision. We will be joining our meet with SPAAMFAA at a different venue in York, PA: Central York High School, which will have enough space to accommodate both clubs at minimal cost.

We’ve also changed our host hotel to one that can accommodate all of us. If you made reservations at the hotel listed earlier, please change to the new meet hotel, listed above.

We have our own tours scheduled, as listed.  Also, SPAAMFAA has said that any of our members are welcome on their tours at their cost, and that information will be provided later. We will do our own judging on site at the school. And we will have our own awards banquet, separate from other clubs’ affairs.

On behalf of our meet planning committee, I apologize for any confusion and for delays in getting information out.  But we are working hard to move forward, onward and upward, and this will be a great meet. Come on out and join the fun with us in York, PA, June 3-8, 2024.

Steve Lichtman
