The Professional Car Society, Inc. (PCS) was founded in 1976 by a small group of hearse, limousine, ambulance and flower car enthusiasts to further the cause of preservation, maintenance and restoration of professional vehicles. Since its humble beginnings in 1976, the Society has grown to about 900 members with members in every state in the U.S.A. and many other countries.
WHAT IS A PROFESSIONAL CAR?
"A professional vehicle," according to the Bylaws of the PCS, "is a funeral, livery, or ambulance class vehicle having special coachwork executed on passenger-car styling. The Society has many geographically-based chapters and several chapters that are dedicated to a particular manufacturer or coach builder. You don't have to belong to a chapter to be a member of the PCS, but you must be a member of the PCS to belong to a chapter. And you don't have to own a professional car to be a member. Enthusiasts are welcome too!
Once a year the PCS International Meet is held to assemble the members together for several days of car fun and a little business too. Tours, lunches, dinners, parking lot chat, and the grand Concours d'Elegance Show make for a great vacation! A Board of Directors Meeting and General Membership Meeting are held in conjunction with the International Meet. Locations vary from the Pacific coast of California to the glens of Albany, NY and from the falls of Ontario to the Atlantic beaches of Florida. The 2014 meet was in Rochester, MN, 2015 in Houston, TX, 2016 in Gettysburg, PA, 2017 in Lebanon, MO, 2018 in Detroit, MI, and 2019 in Rapid City, SD. A mid-winter Board of Directors meeting and weekend group gathering is held in February or March and is open to all members.
The Professional Car Society publishes a Golden-Quill award winning, full color magazine, The Professional Car, bi-monthly. Membership is based on number of issues rather than years, with 4 issues comprising a "year" of membership. Visit the Store to subscribe and become a member.
